Board Director Neil MacOmish to be part of World Sports Tourism Congress

The World Tourism Organisation and the Catalan Tourist Board are organising the World Sports Tourism Congress which will take place from 25-26 November 2021

The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the Catalan Tourist Board (Agència Catalana de Turisme) are organising the World Sports Tourism Congress which will take place from 25-26 November 2021, in Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain.

Board Director at Scott Brownrigg, Neil MacOmish, has been elected to the UN World Sports Tourism Congress Scientific Committee. With over 37 years of design experience, Neil is an expert in the design of sporting venues. Having worked on the 2010 Ryder Cup venue – Celtic Manor in Wales, UK, the SWALEC Stadium, Wales in preparation for the 2009 Ashes Test, the home of the Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey team in Wales, the Kia Oval Cricket Ground in London and the International Sports Village destination in Cardiff to name but a few. The appointment follows his extensive architectural work within this arena.

Within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, this congress seeks to explore the relationship between sports tourism and sustainable and inclusive development. The congress will challenge all participants to explore these topics and discuss current and future trends in the sector. 

This year, the Congresses’ Scientific Committee are inviting academics, researchers, and industry practitioners to submit their thoughts on innovative ideas and future research topics in the form of thought-provoking essays and posters. These need to be submitted by 30 June, more information available here
