Scott Brownrigg have been shortlisted for two Structural Timber Awards 2019: Education Project of the Year Award for Stoneywood School in Scotland and Architect of the Year.

The Structural Timber Awards are a celebration of innovation, best practice and expertise in timber technology. The Awards showcase innovative solutions and groundbreaking developments from across the UK timber industry.

Stoneywood School is the largest Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) school to be delivered in Scotland. Working with the Aberdeen City Council asset team, educators and learners right from the start, we arrived at the selection of a CLT structure, which we felt provided an innovative, cost effective, and environmentally meaningful structural solution. Our design for the CLT structure delivered a combination of tangible results for the construction phases as well as performance enhancements for the finished scheme.

Earlier this year, the scheme won the Innovative Use of Timber – the ‘Wood for Good’ Award from the Aberdeen Society for Architects.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 9 October 2019 at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham.
