DfE Sustainable Estates Guidance

Further Education Sustainable Estates Guidance

Share this:

Now available to read online, this publication provides non-statutory guidance from the Department for Education (DfE) on delivering sustainable capital investment in further education. Scott Brownrigg developed the document for and in close collaboration with the DfE design team. It uses case studies from a number of colleges across the country to illustrate the sustainable estate design principles, including our own project at North Hertfordshire College.

The guidance is intended to help institutions delivering further education in a variety of settings and economic regions. It sets out how the DfE define a sustainable estate from a social, economic and financial perspective, and complements the range of DfE technical standards that are available to the sector.

The guidance was previewed at last year’s Education Estates Conference and will be presented in full at this year’s conference, taking place in Manchester on 18-19 October. The guidance is now live and available to read here.
