As part of Scott Brownrigg’s company charity efforts for 2016, our Guildford office undertook a major makeover of a local youth centre for Challengers children’s charity.
Established in 1979, Challengers are dedicated to providing exciting and challenging play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people. This valuable work is carried out through play and youth centres in Guildford and Farnham and through a range of community based projects across Surrey and the surrounding areas.
From 16-18 September, the Scott Brownrigg team worked on a youth centre in Guildford which caters for the 13 to 18 age groups. The brief set by Challengers requested a bright, modern, inspiring and fun space which fully utilised the potential of the building and addressed the needs of all possible end-users within the community.
To achieve this, the team worked with local suppliers to source materials and prepared creative designs to quickly transform four of the centre’s rooms; the entrance, kitchen, lounge and games room. Following extensive preparation work, the team worked throughout the weekend scrubbing, sanding and painting to create a remarkable makeover. In total, 225 hours were spent transforming the centre – equivalent to six working weeks!
The project’s successful completion has earned positive feedback already from both Challengers and the users themselves.
Scott Brownrigg would like to thank the following companies who donated their products and expertise to make this project possible; AG Electrical Mechanical Services, Altro, Blinds Boutique, Bean Bag Bazaar, Brewers, Gidden Place, iGuzzini and Wickes.
