In a brilliant tie up Scott Brownrigg are incorporating Surrey based Silent Pool Gin’s Garden Pavillion which appeared at last week's RHS Chelsea Flower Show into their own garden design for childrens charity Cherry Trees.
Our Guildford studio has supported local charity Cherry Trees for the last 12 months with staff giving their time and energy to a number of initiatives and activities that are making a real difference for the charity. The charity provides home-from-home specialist short breaks for children and young adults aged 0-19 with a range of complex disabilities including learning, physical and sensory impairments.
Through a collaboration between the distillery, Neale Richards Garden Design (NRGD), the staff and students of the University of Surrey, and Dutch pioneers Plant-e, Silent Pool Gin’s garden pavilion demonstrates the potential role that our green spaces could play in providing both a renewable energy source and contributing to a sense of well-being.
Inspired by the rolling Surrey Hills, it provides a tranquil and transformative space that reveals the unique power and capability of plants. Introducing an energy-generating soil bed and giving a glimpse into the potential ‘garden of the future’. The garden also ‘sings’ a varied chorus of bird songs from the Surrey Hills, a soundscape controlled and orchestrated by the garden itself and the technology embedded within it.
With good health at the forefront, an array of plants have been carefully selected according to their well-being properties. Throughout the garden roses (powerful antioxidants), elderflower (used for swollen sinuses), chamomile (sleep booster) and a bonsai juniper tree (air purifier), all of which are amongst the 24 botanicals used.
The features and sensory properties incorporated into the design, make the garden a perfect place to be enjoyed by those children and young people visiting Cherry Trees on short breaks. The garden will be built in early June by Scott Brownrigg staff assisted by Neale Richards Garden Design and Barnwood Construction.
