Scott Brownrigg was honoured to have the Rt Hon Anne Milton MP, Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills join the Guildford studio on 13 July to discuss the practice’s School Outreach Programme and the Level 7 Architecture Apprenticeship Standard it has led and delivered.

Anne Milton also joined the ‘Introduction to Architecture’ workshop the practice holds annually with students from St Peter’s School in Guildford; giving her insight into how the workshops are run and the ability to meet some of the students to discuss their career aspirations.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss in detail the new Level 7 (equivalent to RIBA Part 2 and 3) Architecture Apprenticeship Standard created by Scott Brownrigg. The Apprenticeship Standard is the first to be delivered as part of the wider work being carried out by the Architecture Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group led by Foster and Partners, Hawkins Brown Architects, Lipscomb Jones Architecture and Seven Architecture.

Scott Brownrigg has been at the forefront of developing this new route into Architecture and instrumental in proposing the development of an Apprenticeship Standard for Architecture, having recognised the demand for alternative paths for architectural qualifications. Scott Brownrigg’s pilot apprenticeship programme will start this September in partnership with Oxford Brookes University.

Anne enjoyed a tour of the studio and met with Director Jason Lebidineuse, HR Director Kim Balchin, Human Resources Assistant Sharon Crawford, Head of Marketing and Communications Claire Donald and RIBA Presidential Ambassador for Young Architects (YADA) and Scott Brownrigg Architect Albena Atanassova who provided an overview of the studio and the Apprenticeship scheme.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Rt Hon Anne Milton MP visit Scott Brownrigg’s Guildford Studio and the practice looks forward to continuing its work with the Trailblazer team in its mission to roll out England’s first architectural apprenticeship schemes.
