Operational efficiency of public buildings is under constant review due to ongoing pressures on public expenditure budgets, coupled with the government’s drive to demonstrably decrease carbonisation. As such, new capital projects are being challenged to drive towards higher performance whilst reducing operational maintenance and running costs over the building lifecycle.

Join Scott Brownrigg Director Alex Donaldson and Morrison Construction’s Senior Design Manager Allan Smith for an insight into the two approaches for the West Lothian Council Early Years Programme at the Festival of Early Years.

The current Early Years programme includes two new-build centres and after careful demonstration by the team, West Lothian Council directed that the centre at Blackridge would follow the Passivhaus standard, with St. Mary’s Bathgate following a traditional Optimum School approach.

The Webinar, chaired by Claire Jackson, Education Director at Galliford Try, explores the parallel development of the two schools, and the converging themes that run at the heart of the West Lothian Communities net zero carbon agenda.

Connecting the Early Years community, the Festival runs virtually from 16-20 November. ‘West Lothian Council Early Years Programme: Sliding Doors – Passivhaus & Optimum Destinies’ is on Thursday 19 November from 16.00 to 16.45 pm.
