Data Centres – What’s The Future?

Roca London Gallery's exhibition, Power House, looks at the architecture of data centres, showcasing proposals and existing designs by architecture practices around the globe, from vast complexes in remote locations, to retrofitted buildings in urban centres.

As part of the exhibition, curator Clare Dowdy will be chairing a discussion on data centres’ future. The focus will be two concepts created especially for the show: Rachel Atthis, Director of Arup, will present Rethinking Oil Rigs; and Martin Wright, Director at Scott Brownrigg, will present Mixed Use and Up Close.

These two visions will be critiqued by Rennie Dalrymple, managing director of Concert, who are project managers, cost consultants and health & safety consultants for data centres. And Marina Otero Verzier, architect and head of MA in Social Design at Design Academy Eindhoven, will explore data centres as ‘post-human institutions’.

The exhibition runs from 3rd November 2021 to 28 February 2022, and the talk takes place on 26 January 2022.
