Scott Brownrigg’s CEO Darren Comber will once again be joining the judging panel at this year’s prestigious Property Awards, organised by Property Week, to judge the Sustainability Achievement category.

The awards, which take place on 4th April at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London recognise outstanding performance in the UK property market by individuals and companies over the last 12 months spanning across 18 categories. Those shortlisted within the Sustainability Achievement category will have approached the subject from either a project specific context or a wider initiative or offering that has raised the bar in terms of sustainability or environmental impact in the built environment over the past year.

Darren, who also leads the Business Space sector at Scott Brownrigg, has been responsible for the design of some of the most sustainable, award-winning buildings delivered by the practice for over 12 years. These include Red Kite House in Oxfordshire, which continues to be the benchmark for sustainable office design as well as The Woods residential development which in November 2016 won the ‘Best Foreign Practices in Energy Efficiency’ ENES award at the Energy Saving Forum in Moscow. The Woods was developed with sustainability in mind and provides the ultimate in contemporary, luxurious, sustainable, rural living. Darren is a regular speaker within the property industry on the topic of sustainability.

On judging the awards, Darren said: “The issue of what defines a sustainable approach to design is constantly evolving and the importance of how this can then be translated into replicable and scalable projects is what defines excellence in this field of expertise."

"I am delighted to have been asked again to contribute to judging the sustainability category of the Property Awards. Last year’s shortlists displayed highly innovative solutions and approaches which demonstrated a thorough and detailed approach to the subject, either through the delivery of a specific building or through a holistic and more comprehensive assessment of sustainable design generally. I am looking forward to reviewing the quality of this year’s entries which I am sure will be of an equally high level.”
